Fixing what's Broken

How far would you go when it comes to "fixing" your child?

I recently watched a documentary that included the struggle a Deaf family went through deciding whether or not to get their Deaf child a cochlear implant. As a hearing person, I think if my child were deaf, and a candidate for a CI, I'd likely get her one without much angsting. I consider deafness a disability, and I found myself going through other things that can be "wrong" with a child that I'd try to fix, such as a cleft palate or poor eyesight.

How far do you go? If possible, would you make your shorter child taller? Your fatter child thinner? Your dimmer child brighter?
